About the Blue Ridge Parkway
The Blue Ridge Parkway runs for 469 miles through twenty-nine Virginia and North Carolina counties, mostly along the Blue Ridge, a major mountain chain that is part of the Appalachian Mountains. The parkway runs from the southern terminus of Shenandoah National Park’s Skyline Drive in Virginia at Rockfish Gap and ends on U.S. Route 441 in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park near Cherokee, North Carolina.
